we were better trained and also the benefit of the fact you pretty much grew up with the same people you were fighting next to so everyone knew what each othere were capable of.
Canadians squads/companies/whatever were pretty much town based. So if you were from the same town chances were good you’d all be in the same squad.
Was another reason why we were known to be so vicious. you’d be pretty damn pissed off too if the enemy just killed the only friend you had since childhood and you saw it happen first hand. Add to the fact Canadians just love a good ol “donnybrook” We love fighting, even pretend fighting. There’s a reason why so many of us love Hockey and why some of the best pro-wrestlers ever are Canadian.
But there’s also a reason why the concept of putting people from the same place in the same unit wasn’t continued. One unlucky shell and it isn’t “Oh, a guy from that village fell.” it’s “Oh, every man from that village is dead now.”
