My mom always says her children are her purpose and I find it unhealthy. My younger sibling still lives with my parents, so the nest isn’t empty, but she places a lot of emotional burden on us because her marriage is toxic and even working a lot and having her hobbies isn’t enough to offset it. So instead of divorcing my father and focusing on her mental and physical health, she uses us as sort of an emotional crutch. I just don’t get it.

“You’ll just make it work. We did.” is such an asinine thing to say when most of us drag baggage into adulthood from varying degrees of childhood trauma. Whether the cause was financial or “I stayed in this bad marriage because of you, kids” while at the same time making another kid in hopes of it fixing said marriage or satisfying your biological need.

I’ve never truly wanted to have kids—past the very rare, but fleeting thought due to people around me starting to have them and lizard brain getting confused—in over 30 years of existing, and yet I still get the occasional “why not?” and “you’ll change your mind” and “your life will have purpose”.

My father’s counterpoint is asking who will take care of me in old age. I genuinely feel a degree of disgust knowing that reason played a decent part why he had children. Maybe he should have tried to be a better parent and spouse before thinking about that.

I have some half-supported, like Logitech mouse (G-shift doesn’t work), and for some I rely on open-source devs (like Corsair keyboard for certain keys/modes/connectivity fix). Sure, you can say just buy compatible devices, but it’s not always viable to replace everything you owned before moving to Linux.

Former owners of the company my partner works at have a host of health issues. They spend a lot of time on the seaside because it alleviates some of it. But also from firsthand experience I know how much it can help.

I used epilator on my armpits and it hurt a lot. But I hate the fact I’m so hairy as a woman (thanks, PCOS and genetics, I also now have to shave my mustache), so I just take it. To your point, I prefer to use waxing strips on that area because it’s less painful as it rips much more hair off in one go.

Heavily controlled state that kills or imprisons political opponents, and disappears or imprisons protesters even for holding a blank white paper on the streets. Russia has the same issue USA does. It’s a gigantic country with spread out cities, with most money going to Moscow and St. Petersburg. It’s extremely difficult to organize effective protests. Especially now that their internet is more walled off than the Great Firewall of China. It’s one thing to have centralized, effective protests in smaller countries where driving to the capital is a couple of hours.

I actually don’t find that surprising as much. They will be dead by the time the worst shit hits the fan. Right now their money can still buy them comfort, so all they care about is their sick little games. However, their children and grandchildren will be cooking like the rest of us.
