Ok yes. Although this “we” that stopped being a colony is of course always a bit tricky.
To Native Americans and black people it didn’t matter so much whether the people that killed and exploited them could keep the loot to themselves, or whether they were required to send some of it to Europe.
I guess the point is that settler colonialism is still colonialism.
The land is still stolen, and the wealth is still built on slavery.
As is much of the wealth in Europe of course.

To be fair, holding up the vertical protest signs the other way around can be quite effective.
This way it is visible for the people behind you, while bystanders can still see it. They just have to look after you have passed them, instead of until you have passed them.
