Eh depends what you define as pain. It could be completely different from what we feel as humans. Like, does a tree feel the same as we would feel if a chainsaw cut off our leg? Probably not, but it probably feels something. Does a bacterium feel pain as it explodes when coming into contact with certain chemicals like we would with a grenade going off in our torso? Probably not.

I fly quite often and I usually do pay for my seat. Always want an aisle seat, dislike the trapped feeling sitting in the middle or window, and never want to bother the other people if I need to get out for some reason. Also prefer to get the front of the plane to deboard faster.

What people forget is that peaceful protests are supposed to give the leaders a chance to listen to the people. Then when they ignore you that’s when the violence happens. You don’t go straight to violence, but yes only doing peaceful protests when the leaders have already ignored you time and time again is just a waste of time and effort.

What’s wrong with people playing a game, and then going eh it’s okay but it would be nice if it had this other feature. Then devs listen to players and make it more fun for everyone, more games sell to those who held off because it lacked the other feature, and everyone wins.

Except the people who play exclusively PvP, since all the easy targets leave for PVE and they actually have to play only with other more experience players 😂

I found when I typed in locations by name or even lots of street addresses to OSM it would often give wrong results or just say cannot be found. Haven’t run into that at all with MapQuest, every address I type in has come up on the map. Type in company/business names and they pop up. Had trouble with that when I tried osm

I’ve just started using MapQuest like many others since the lake ontario thing. It’s been pretty good and I find it a lot more functional and accurate than the Foss options at the moment. It’s not perfect but it’s also not Google or apple.

I can’t even tell you what French food is… Nothing comes to mind as particularly French. I can imagine Italian, Greek, Spanish, German, etc but all I can come up with for French is baguettes and escargot.

Not sure about your specific government but typically they would use data like number of people in a certain area and income class to decide where bus stops should be located, number of people with a certain religion to determine zoning of religious faculties that can be constructed, number of people with young children to determine where schools need to be built, etc.

People always complain about schools being to crowded and little portable classrooms becoming permanent and it’s partially due to not knowing how many children those schools should be built to accomodate.

I mean, don’t blame the government when they make bad policy decisions then. You can’t make informed decisions if you don’t know the demographics for particular areas.

Well, ya but I don’t think it would be 100% identical to trees. Lignin didn’t really even exist for millions of years before trees evolved to fight gravity on land. But underwater you wouldn’t need a strong trunk like that since they would weigh so much less and can evolve buoyancy structures or something like other plants do. Or even short and stout, just massive.

All of those variables to me appear like they would be similar on land. Currents move but so does wind, and I don’t think their are any currents in the ocean that can rival hurricane force winds that trees can contend with.

Sunlight also changes quite a lot on land depending on the season or weather.
