Big difference between organizing a community online and being part of it in real life. Real life communities are the only real communities.

I’m not complaining about the lack of upvotes, just I don’t see why it’s getting promoted to your front page
Weird. You can see they don’t have that many upvotes. It wasn’t my intention to spam anyone’s feed.
But I don’t see any of my posts on all. The most any of them has right now is 59 points, which is hardly a lot. And when I post them how would I know they are going to be popular and flood people’s feeds? I wasn’t expecting them to be very popular.
There’s lots of communities with the same purpose on different instances. Why shouldn’t I post to all those that apply?
Building community is being in bed with a laptop? Humanity is doomed.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Should cash stay alive to enable "private" transactions?
1·1 month agoUse cash for now, but start transitioning to other privacy currencies, especially those that don’t depend on technology, such as precious metals and local currencies like Ithaca hours. Edit: I say transition away from cash (as in government-produced cash) because that they have serial numbers that enable tracking and they can decide to declare them invalid or inflate away their value through printing if people continue to use them anyway.

1·1 month agoIt is observably relatively minor, as already explained. It is arguably temporary and definitely is temporary if we become extinct.

11·1 month agoSome relatively minor and arguably temporary economic hardship that still leaves us at an advantage compared to almost anyone else doesn’t seem like a big deal compared to humans no longer being the dominant species and either going extinct or becoming slaves

11·1 month agoI didn’t say it’s not an issue, but we need perspective. Instead of complaining about the elbow poking us in the ribs right now how about we talk about the branch we’re sitting on breaking and the pit of lava below? Or why we are in this situation to begin with? Not just the elbow but everything else?

12·1 month agoWork, social activities, churches, in the neighborhood, at the park. Really lots of places if you’re not trying to be a downer. Of course it was much easier before the internet however.

23·1 month agoI’m talking about income relative to prices. The west has it better than everyone else now or ever before except recent history. I know complaining is fashionable but be real. You’re not a serf who can never afford meat or has to work 10 hours 6 days a week even if you do have 3 (part-time) jobs.

715·1 month agoThis is way more due to technology than the economy. It doesn’t cost money to have friends yet there’s a loneliness epidemic. The west is very rich compared to the rest of the world or all of recorded history.
Everything was better before computers
