But really, I actually was posting more in response to all the comments on here than the post itself.
I’m getting a real “eff those guys,” vibe that, yeah, isn’t in the original post, but is very real in the comments section.
So, as opposed to responding to literally every other comment in the thread, I just made a top level comment.
Sure, and while I realize that I posted this as a top comment, it was after reading a dozen other comments on this post, so it was more in response to the general sentiment I was seeing.
I didn’t feel the need to respond individually to 20 people when it seemed like the overwhelming majority opinion, so I just made a top level comment.

Sure, but it seems like people here might have a selective problem with one of them too, just in the opposite direction. Not sure if you’ve read some of the other comments.
I’m just saying we should probably not have a problem with either. Neither is doing anything wrong or bad.
We should absolutely call out when the media freaks out about a Muslim worship service. But that’s not a good reason to freak out about a Christian worship service.
I don’t think I have a problem with a bunch of soldiers going to a voluntary worship service, regardless of the religion it is for.
I certainly wouldn’t have a problem if this was a bunch of Muslim soldiers worshipping Allah, so I don’t know why I should have a problem with this?

Maybe by volume, but certainly not proportionately. The percentage of content on Lemmy that is just straight conspiracy nonsense is ridiculous. There was a post not a day or two ago where people seriously believed that Japanese TV was blurring Trump’s neck because it looked like a vagina. It’s literally Newsmax in here, and it’s constant. On Reddit at least there was enough other content to drown it out so if doesn’t hit my feed every single day.
I left reddit however many years ago now because I disagree with their business practices. I’ve been exclusively Lemmy for years at this point. But the community writ large kinda sucks.
Mitch McConnell fell down and is a billion years old. He’s not dead. They did a photoshoot. He looks good in a staged photoshoot because it’s not a candid on capital hill when he’s at a press conference or something. Of course he looks better/younger in a staged photoshoot than some random political candid. They may have even put some makeup on him to cover up some bruising. They’re not weekend at Bernies-ing his corpse around for kicks and giggles. It doesn’t even pass a smell test.

Not that this isn’t a problem, obviously, but it’s also a new ruling that seems pretty likely to get thrown out on appeal. I don’t think this is worth getting hysterical over.
It’s also not all elections. It’s limited to municipal votes where businesses own brick and mortar. The actual case is a town that’s basically all businesses with few residents, as far as I can tell, and the ruling allows businesses to vote on town business only, as it effects them as well.
That said, I agree it’s a bad ruling. And I agree that it should be overturned (as I think it will.) But to imply that this allows someone to spin up 100k LLCs and rig the vote for Donal Trump or something is a willful misreading of the ruling.
That’s fair. A standardized stick measurement for shorter lengths, and a standardized wheel of diameter 1-stick for longer lengths. That tracks.

Though, it strikes me as odd that people would be making diameter based measurements with a wheel tool for the same reason it would be weird for people to be making measurements with the short side of a yard stick. Seems like a needlessly difficult way to get a measurement when your existing tool already has an easy and codified way of getting measurements.
I’m no historian or whatever, so maybe that’s something they did do in antiquity. But it seems unlikely to me, and if we have evidence that they did, I’d be interested to see it.

Though, it seems like if you were measuring using wheels, to use the diameter to measure something would be a little odd? It’s way easier to roll a wheel a certain number of times vs trying to use it as a circular yardstick.
And if rotations isn’t giving you the granularity you want, just use a smaller wheel?

Like, if you have a wheel who’s diameter is 3.18m (10/3.14), it will have a circumference of 10m. So 14 wheel rotations will be 140m, and 5 wheel rotations will be 50m.
Comparing 14 rotations to 5 rotations (140m to 50m) doesn’t seem to yield pi in any meaningful way?

It’s a pretty long article, so I probably won’t read it again. It does end with “If Judaism has to die for Palestine to live, kill it,” though. It also says that October 7th was a good and righteous attack that everyone should support.
I think that one can be against Israel without wanting the elimination of all of Judism. I also hesitate to full throatedly support an attack against civilians that happened prior to the large scale Palestinian genocide that’s been happening since 2023.
None of which is to say that Israel is some misrepresented good guy. They’re not. And they certainly aren’t the victims of the Palestinian genocide.
But I don’t think that’s grounds to hate my Jewish American neighbors. And if there’s one thing this article is abundantly clear in its stance on, it’s that all Jews, even “non-Zionist Jews,” are directly morally culpable for the Palestinian genocide.
Man, I thought that “yes, all Jews” was clickbait, but no, the article is saying that literally all Jews are culpable for Israel and that they would support the extermination of all Jewish people. Kind of a wild take…
To be fair, the “change one” part is wrong. Two particles that are quantum entangled maintain the same quantum state when separated. But if you change the quantum state of one it doesn’t propogate. They are just in sync.
Probably awesome for people without full use of their arms.
