(actually, I don’t know whether to be excited or to dread this)

Years ago, I used Moonlight to cast to an Nvidia Shield. It worked pretty well, although it still required a lot of back and forth to tinker with things on the host PC. Still, it was better than the Steam Link at the time. Recently, I tried using the built-in streaming in Steam to play on a different PC in the house, but it was much the same story: lots of back-and-forth, launchers were annoying, and sometimes it wouldn’t display on the right screen.

Maybe virtual machines would be an improvement.

Is it worth it after that’s all said and done?

I’d love to power gaming in my house from a central server, but I keep imagining that it would be spotty and frustrating as hell.

Yeah, season 3 is wild. They were on a shorter schedule for every step in filming the episodes due to budget and didn’t have a lot of time for rewrites or retakes, plus they started getting more experimental in how scenes were directed/filmed.

The weird first person fish-eye lens in the Medusian episode always comes to mind:

Some records claim he named/renamed upward of 70, but I’m reading now that the modern consensus is that that number is inflated and may be closer to 20-30, plus many named after allies or followers.

Sometimes I wonder if women’s lib was only successful because it happened to align with the capitalist desire to double the labor pool. Is that too cynical? Maybe we still would’ve gotten there otherwise.

Yeah, a society that doesn’t take into account biology can’t possibly last. The hard discussion is that a lot of it is because we, as a modern society, expect certain things now: access to contraception is good, women having equal ability to enter college and employment is good.

But it’s unavoidable that when an increasingly large share of the population are getting established in their careers in their late 20s or early 30s, the window of time to date, marry, and start a family is so much shorter than it used to be. Add in increased housing and living costs, and the window gets even smaller. Also, heaven forbid any step in the process takes longer than planned…
