12·21 days agoToddler towers ftw. They can help cut with their plastic (or metal when a little older) knives and get to watch and participate. Kids stop being as annoying if they feel included. Doesn’t take long for them to learn that handles are hot and that popping sounds do ranged damage.
That’s even better
This is amazing and thank you for sharing. The ability of the human race to come up with different yet universally understood yonic symbols is heartening. Like no matter what place or time, we’re all in this together and we will be drawing genitalia.
Yes me too. But that same baby born in Gaza could be born 15 miles away and live an entirely different life. That is the whole point. The gazan child is not essentially a victim by virtue of being born in Gaza. The gazan child is likely to be a victim not because she has to be (is essential to her nature) but because someone has chosen to victimise her. What modern people miss is that that distinction was lacking for the first couple thousand years of philosophical thought.
Existentialism is a response to essentialism though. It isn’t that life has no meaning but that people can be free to choose the meaning and path of their lives. An acorn can only become an oak tree but a person is not born with their future path preordained. The idea is existence before essence instead of essence before existence.

If you really want to know how I can help with some of it. I started a business last year. I am a skilled laborer by training but my business isn’t in the same field. The main steps are:
- Go to your Secretary of State website
- Start your LLC (maybe something else but LLC covers most things for most people)
- Get your ein from the IRS website
- Use whatever monies you (proprietor) have to buy equipment, advertising, whatever. Save your receipts.
- When you file your (personal) taxes deduct everything you spent money on that is common and appropriate for your business.
- Get all the money you spent back. Now you have the things you bought plus they money you spent on it.
- Try to profit the second year and hopefully not have to use your (personal) money anymore.
- Once you get to the point your revenues exceed your costs try not to embezzle from yourself (LLC.) the tax code favors businesses to the point that stealing isn’t really necessary.
That’s a general idea of how it goes. It cost me $75 I think and took a week for the SoS to approve my filing. I did all of the paperwork on my phone and it took less than an hour total. How to make money from a business is another topic but if you got a good idea or marketable skill don’t let the official/legal part put you off.

1·3 months agoDo they do that informally too? In formal English language writing, the majority of interrogative sentences can be correctly interpreted by their starting with “question words” or helping verbs. This breaks down in informal writing e.g. “you up?” vs ”Are you up?" In the little Spanish I know, I’d say “¿Estas despierto?” (I know I’m missing accents but I speak Spanish way more than I can read it.) Would I still text it to someone that way even though extra characters are what is typically taken off in informal writing? In the English example, the helping verb is removed. In the Spanish version, would the upside down question mark be removed?
Gotcha. It looked like a clip on the cats hindquarters to me
