In terms of capturing the old school comics character, Newmar.
In terms of distinct awesomeness, Kitt. She carried off the surreality of the show alongside the other villains in way that felt right.
Like, the entire villain cast was all top notch actors and performers. They all went over the top so that every episode was wall to wall extravagance. Kitt did the same as Meredith, Romero, Gorshin and Price, the names that tend to stick out.
Newmar definitely held her own! But she wasn’t the same kind of candy coated insane as the others. She played the character more straight (not as in hetero, but as in like a regular acting role).
Now, do I necessarily like one over the other? No. I fucking love that Newmar always stood out as almost normal compared to everyone else; an almost believable cat burglar dropped into this sea of crazy. And Kitt bringing her vocal power to every line, making the role purr is just amazing.
But I do think that Kitt was the one that fit the show best
Nailed it.
I often think about Sisko and the episode In the Pale Moonlight.
And I wish that the series didn’t have him ascend to godhood because it would have been really cool to see him as an admiral and have his war crime come out. I’m not anti-sisko or anything. I just think it would have been an interesting story for the new up-and-coming commander/captain. Like what we have seen with Riker and others.
Imagine Nog finding out what Sisko did and having his own moment of figuring out what it means to be a leader.
