In a post, I’m prompted to upload the media in question and then to select and paste it. However, in comments, I don’t get prompted. It only pastes ![](https). I don’t know how I am supposed to know the link and hash to a piece of media that I haven’t been prompted for to upload yet. 🥺

      Seems my comment didn’t federate:

Huh. Seems like a bug… If I refresh the page a lot of times, sometimes the button works, sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve attached a screenshot of the browser’s developer console. Let’s see if that image loads. It says “image button not found”.

Maybe some race condition between the separate parts of the JavaScript?

That is in the Downarea editor. (I have “Use Markdown editor […]” enabled in my profile.

Oh, wait, I may have creates an even greater issue. My account is registered over at Blåhaj. And the popup DOES show up now when i tried it in this reply. Does it matter that I am registered through another instance or should it work anyway? Might they have some configuration that doesn’t allow pasting images in comments?

No, you definitly found a bug. I also though it worked but the popup appear or hide. h3ndrik’s comment below mine provide technical detail :
