Beginning the trailer with an earnest, unironic pronouns joke is absolutely the worst possible way to advertise that your antiquated, creatively bankrupt spoof series is returning for the right reasons. That joke would have been worth a groan at best 10 years ago on the Babylon Bee.

Then “I’m a Republican now so I’m supposed the be racist.”

Then “There are no safe spaces.”

And the tagline “Every line will be crossed.”

If this movie is somehow successful, whoever’s remaining at the Daily Wire will be kicking themselves that they couldn’t afford to fund it themselves.

And that’s on top of the pitifully tired gags like calling the “Wednesday” reference character “Tuesday” or the dildos.

    LAST YEAR AT 2:17 AM

    ANNA FARIS

    TRIPPED

    WHILE TEXTING

    AND

    ACCIDENTALLY AGREED TO DO ANOTHER

I’ve no expectation that this will be good, but that got an amused snort out of me.

What a deal, wait a few years and parody the horror movies released years prior, no original ideas needed. Might as well have AI make these movies.

Eeeeeeh well that’s absolutely what it devolved to in the later films. The first one was pretty tight and largely revolving around the movie scream. The second was where the cracks were starting to show a bit. Most of it was making fun of haunted house tropes etc. But the Nike commercial recreation was just uh, okay. I still chuckled at David cross dribbling etc in the wheel chair sure. But David is just a funny guy.

After that though it broke down bad to each scene parodying a different movie etc. I would hope with the relaunch they could bring it back closer to the first.
