European colonies and the Caliphate had slaves but the rest of the world didn’t, and even then there were long stretches of time prior where slavery wasn’t a thing (though this is region dependent). Slavery in indigenous communities is also not something I’ve heard of (prior to colonisation, obviously).
Private capital has always existed everywhere (always i.e. the past 500 years).
