      DS2 at least told you up front that you’d do all this stuff and not know why. ER made you get into the lore and learn about the law of convergence and regression and even then that’s mostly a guess

        DS2 has probably the weirdest story of the bunch. You start off with the goal of trying to break the undead curse and it ends with killing an evil witch that fucked up an entire kingdom for no particular reason at all. Like, did we just abandon our original quest upon seeing Vendrick all depressed and shit?

          Oh for sure, they’re both terrible about playing it coy with the storyline. I get what they’re going for, but it’s a risky move that makes it hard to engage with the storyline. I’d wager most people that played the games have no idea what the plot was.
