Zach Snyder needs to make a handful of movies with no VFX so he can learn how to properly tell a story. He can make visually compelling scenes, but he sucks at telling a story.
Plus, “Escape From New York” does not need a remake. What we need is “Snake Plissken: Cleveland”.
It would be genuinely interesting to see what would happen if he did a VFX free story-driven period drama … like, would his directorship just suck if he were out of his niche?
I’m guessing he’d make a decent director of photography. They just shouldn’t let him handle the story or characters. Let him do some VFX work but have someone else edit the hell out of it.
Exactly Kurt Russell would probably gladly come back for 3rd movie.
