But remember: once you start playing, you can never really stop unless you want all your hard work to be blown away by a sandstorm.
I lost hundreds of hours of grinding and building because I had to put the game down for a few weeks to deal with family shit. Came back and all my hard work, my bases, vehicles, ornithopters, everything, was simply gone. And that was on the single player map. Infuriating.
The game is gorgeous and a ton of fun, and I will never touch it again.
you can store your entire base long term with minimal effort though. I have my base, all my vehicles, ores, everything stored when I don’t play. takes mere minutes to press a button and have it all right back
Yeah, they released that update a couple months after I got back. Felt like an afterthought after tons of complaints from the community. Personally though, the damage was already done, there’s no way I’m starting from scratch after how much time I put into getting where I was.
Well, you wouldn’t start from scratch anyway. They give returning players a huge box filled with materials to get back to where you were. I played again recently after losing my base and actually got further than I was in like an hour
The Deep Desert is fully available with all its content and challenges, but the map never resets and your buildings are never wiped. The Coriolis Storm remains as a weather event but is less destructive.
Sounds like they’re fixing this
Ah that’s very cool. I can’t imagine why they didn’t have some permanence like this built-in from the start. It’s too little too late for me unfortunately, starting from scratch after hundreds of hours of grinding is not an option.
I played it in basically single player when it first came out.
I hardly saw other players beyond their bases
Which is only one reason, of many, that multiplayer should be optional.
I wanted to fight people but didn’t get a chance in my 100 hrs of playing despite constantly going to shipwrecks lol.
