Victory! 702 has Expired!

EFF has said for decades, every time this program is up for renewal: Section 702 should require a warrant before the Federal Bureau of Investigation can look at digital communications collected from Americans. If not, we should let the whole thing expire.

    It’s expired.

But, as my arts teacher used to say, things are only illegal if someone files charges against you. Until someone actually does, S702 is as well as unexpired.

They’re allowed to spy for ~9 more months.

If that’s the name of the law then yes. I’m not sure about the details but there’s some kind of warrant that’s extended though march 2027.

we should let the whole thing expire. And this time, it has, at least for a little while.

At some point they’ll set aside their differences and get back to what matters: infringing on the rights of American citizens.
