    Looes and the cabin boy Pelgrom were spared execution, instead being marooned on the mainland, thus becoming the first Europeans to live on the mainland of Australia, although nothing more was heard of them.

    Interesting , though Dutch ships may have been wrecked on the West Australian coast before this event.
