A watch party with friends. We’ve been watching Vinland Saga, which I’ve already seen, but still looking forward to rewatching it and seeing my friends’ reactions. Such a great show.
It’s historical fiction centred on Viking invasion of England in 11th century. Though I must warn you it deals with very heavy topics such as war and slavery without sugarcoating them. Trauma, gore, grief and abuse will be on screen fairly frequently, so take that into account to decide if you want to give it a go.
The storytelling and characters are masterfully done, though, and the main message it tries to send is one simple yet profound: “You don’t have enemies. Nobody has any enemies. Violence for any reason is wrong”.
I don’t necessarily agree with it 100%, but it’s a beautiful ideal to strive for nevertheless.
