They’re … quite thoroughly described, if that’s your thing?
I managed to get to the end of the 7th book (out of 10) before giving up. The author really likes the idea of royalty, for some reason, and that put me off as much as the stuff about considering whether it’s better to transport fruit when dried or canned in a fictional world that has magic in it.
Okay so monarchy is gross, but speaking as someone from a fictional world with refridgeration in it, this is still a concern. I’m very interested in the considerations. Maybe not enough to deal with monarchoslop.
Supply chains and where a good should be processed is often a complex concern with interesting inputs and answers!
In which case, go for it. Feel free to enjoy the D/s kinky stuff along the way … the trade negotiations only really kick off in the 6th and 7 th books.
2nd and 3rd talk about infrastructure and international relations quite a lot, too.
I do like infrastructure. I’m not really that into d/s, but I can switch from epee to foil and we can have sex and feed each other antibiotics after I stab you a few times if you want to approximate/deconstruct the kind of duelling.
They’re … weird. Lesbians duel with magical dildos to posses one another as sex slaves.
Unfortunately not as sexy as it sounds - by the sixth book it talks about trade negotiations over transport regulation more than sex :-(
Epee sounds good, useful for spanking afterwards …
I was pretty turned off until you said ‘trade negotiations’.
If that floats your boat, you’ll probably enjoy them then. There’s almost no plot BTW.
Are the trade negotiations good?

If we can cuddle and watch Star Trek after, then you have yourself a deal :-)
But I get to be big spoon afterwards.
