      Suspects can be held indefinitely under interrogation without charges.

      The “See also” for that article should link the right to Speedy trial. Japan does recognize it, but it probably has some loophole where interrogation does not count, or the limit is quite high and they’re abusing all of it.

        The article says she was jailed 18 days. She went 5 months after that shedding all the weight and dying. The headline implied that it all happened while jailed.
