Car brain.
Took the words out of my mouth haha
Well that’s easy, it’s because 30km/h zones are “socialist”.
Damn, this socialism thing sounds better by the day lol
Because driving slow means your dick is too small.
Or something like that.
The roads in the cities are crazy fast compared to what I’m used to. It’ll be 60 past a row of shops often, with maybe a 40 during peak hours if pedestrians are lucky. That’d probably be 30kph in England nowadays too.
Still get 30-40mph in the UK very frequently and the 20mph limits are very very widely ignored.
Let us not mention the pedestrians wandering around with their heads buried in their phones whilst wearing earphones/headphones!
It’s good to practice safety, but we should design our cities to be safe.
Don’t go around deflecting blame onto pedestrians. Slower speed limits savw lives.
That and getting yank wank tanks off the roads
Edit, sent the wrong link at first: https://youtube.com/watch?v=jN7mSXMruEo
I guarantee the people complaining the most will be the same ones arguing that the roads are unsafe due to potholes
I think you may be confusing 30 mph with the more conservative 30 kph?
Let’s just take take ALL the cars off the road or mandate that ALL pedestrians must wear an inflatable Sumo Wrestling suit!
Life is full of Risk, and has anybody assessed the environmental damage from longer, fuel burning journeys?
Driving slower conserves fuel.
This is brain-dead take, sorry.
We can and should design our cities to be safe.
30 km/h on side streets is a no-brainer and is a thing already in a bunch of countries.
The number of people killed while walking or riding in big cities has increased by almost a quarter since 2022
Sure let’s blame cars and not ebikes and scooters being ridden by absolute fuckwits who ignore the law and end up dead.
Not once has this been taken to an election across the country so it shouldn’t be implemented.
Got to laugh at all the people who love democracy until it interferes with them bubble wrapping the world
I think that’s largely in part to the enormous yanktanktinydicktrucks and 4wd’s that cunts drive
Likely a factor but the biggest jump in fatalities has been e-mobility users
It’s not bubble wrapping, it’s called good design. Bad design, and unnecessarily large vehicles are the cause of pedestrian and cyclist deaths.
Top-tier victim blaming from you, to suggest it’s just the people doing the wrong thing who are being killed.
The jump in fatalities is literally NOT due to cars - though oversized yank tanks are a problem and should absolutely be banned here in Australia.
The increase in fatalities is down to those poor victims who jumped on a scooter while drunk, ignored the helmet, ran a red light then failed to hop a curb and hit their empty fucking head on concrete and died.
If the speed limit was 0km/h, no lives would be lost.
You dumb fucking muppet.
At the same time, if the speed limit were 100km/h in an urban zone, the death rate would skyrocket. Ultimately I think it’s reasonable to say it’s about finding the best compromise between speed and safety, and in an urban environment, it’s actually less of a compromise than you might think.
In areas with traffic, the determining factor for how fast a driver gets to their destination is not speed, but throughput: how many cars go past a certain point (eg. a traffic light) in a certain time interval. However, as speeds go up, so do safe breaking distances at a rate proportional to the speed. So you don’t actually get where you want to go significantly faster by increasing speeds, because the rate at which cars pass remains practically constant.
Reducing speed limit can lead to more death due to driver’s fatigue on longer trips. There is always trade off.
That doesn’t apply here as this is to do with residential / highly urbanised local streets.
Just pull over and rest.
