Maybe they end up with Tuvok after the Tuvix incident.
Everybody pretends like the transporter was able to cleanly separate Neelix and Tuvok, but what really happened is it just fucking guessed.
The crew was so emotionally burned out from the whole thing that they just didnt mention the errors.
They switched Neelix out for a double. The real Neelix couldn’t cope after the Tuvix incident and had to be silenced. The doc couldn’t get the feet right.
