It was actually the fact that the people with boats also lived in an area where carbon-rich iron was in the ground all over the place. While other civilizations first needed to discover and perfect metallurgy, Europeans only needed to mine it and work it into shape to have superior weapons and armor than the rest of the world.
Basically, Europe got the best spawn location, used that to gather momentum in the early game, and has been able to preserve that momentum through military dominance throughout the midgame.
I’m actually starting to think it was ye ol’ corruption and decadence which did them in. The rich hoarded wealth, gave up or banned knowledge and then conveniently found a boogeyman to blame for the unavoidable collapse.
It’s been happening too many times to discount it as a possibility.
Likely contributed to the lack of adequate defense in so many areas. The sea peoples were just the finger pushing over the dominoes.
Didn’t the sea people fail to conquer Egypt, which is famous for it’s humbleness and lack of decadence 😂.
That’s because they murdered them all
They all tried but the sea people won, until Egypt
My understanding (not a historian, don’t quote me on this) is that one of the big explanations for the collapse was particularly bad famine that affected the entire region. It led rural people to migrate into relatively-more-prosperous cities, often by boat (hence “sea people”), but this migration led to increased strain on city infrastructure, especially since the cities were facing the famine as well.
don’t quote me on this

Nah, the Sea Peoples were actual groups of people, forming legit armies, coming in from the Mediterranean. We even have names.
Sounds reasonable. But it might have been an “eat the rich situation” as well. Just sayin’…
It was sea peoples, coulda been a bunch of chicks
This is something I struggle with in English, especially vernacular local dialects or pidgin dialects, because words like bruh/brah and dude are often effectively used gender neutral, bit can come across as mis gendering
Haha, it’s complicated even for natives. I believe there’s a legitimate use for gender-neutral “guys” and “dudes”, but it really depends on who I’m talking to and what they expect.
Okay but dude is pretty gender neutral. Couldve been a bunch of sea dude chicks
Wait what’s going on with PugJesus? I’m so confused.

They’re leaving Lemmy :(
Not only are they leaving Lemmy :(, but they’ve been using pieface for the last few months (which seems to be why they’re leaving Lemmy, pieface has imposed voting limits for some asinine reason).
I was so excited to discover that there was an (essentially) “open-source reddit alternative” but so far the fediverse has served up disappointment after disappointment.
