The Metropolitan police has U-turned on its decision not to investigate Brits who served with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) over alleged war crimes in Gaza.
They should face far steeper consequences than Palestine Action supporters (who IMO shouldn’t face any).
Read half this comment and started lighting my torch. Now I have no use for it. Waste of a good torch…
But I agree.
The Hague is like half an hour plane trip away, why is this the met’s job? These aren’t Americans.
You’re arguing that the Metropolitan police shouldn’t investigate creditable reports of crimes committed by people, when those people are British and, per the article, the Met has a dedicated team for that kind of crime? What do you think police are for in the UK? Why do you mention Americans?
Sorry do the international courts not have their own investigators? I kind of assumed they did.
There is a fire service here, does that mean I shouldn’t use this fire extinguisher in the event of a fire?
More than one group can have responsibility for something.
I’m not opposed, but given the met’s general orientation this just seems like an excuse to not extradite.
