This is me just riffing off of trans memes that I’ve seen online, and the fact that apparently I have a very (egg) state of mind naturally, but it seems to me that trans people really resonate with games that are all about overcoming extreme challenges, in which the player character gradually builds more experience and capabilities and undergoes a transformation of sorts in which you unlock capabilities that don’t necessarily make the game easier, but increase the scope of what you’re capable of and gives you more tools to work with. Also stories that deal with themes of loneliness, belonging, finding your place in the world, building up allies who can aid you in your struggle. Games like Celeste and silksong are kind of like riffs on the hero’s Journey, where the main character becomes who they were always meant to be through a long struggle and a process that’s a combination of determination, trial and error, and fate.

More seriously in the first one you fight the silksong, then in the second you become the silksong.
