I keep not finishing the first one.

I just really, really hate the corpse run bullshit. Every time I die, I’m forced to trek back to the exact spot I died before doing anything else, which is a stupid mechanic for a game that’s about exploration and discovery.

I know it’s a masterpiece and all, and I’m glad it’s sucessful, but that mechanic just annoyed me too much, and I spend half the time just stewing over how much I hate that aspect. I realize after a few hours that the frustration over it, even if it’s overblown, keeps me from enjoying the game.

I’m glad other people love it.

I don’t really mind it. But I do agree that it just… Doesn’t feel necessary. Mina the Hollower was another game I overall liked, where the soul dropping mechanic was just, superfluous

One of the run-backs near the end of Silksong was so egregious that I literally quit my run and watched a youtube playthrough of the rest of the game. I’ve never done that before.

Which one? Two bad runbacks stick out for me:

red drill face bug and Groal the gross guy

The false bench before Groal certainly infuriated me, but there was a dream world boss where you had to do at least four gauntlet rooms back to back without checkpoints.

            I understand the frustration but

            Tap for spoiler

You can unlock a shortcut that leads to the final gauntlet room so you only need to run the entire gauntlet once

Yeah that’s part of what made me quit the initial time i played it. The second time years later it just didn’t bother me as much. I was also dying a lot less too since I knew many enemy patterns already and had gotten better at platformers.
