I found I am way more likely to experience weird, nightmare-ish bs if I sleep on my back, or when I drank some alcohol. Maybe there are factors that control it for you as well.
Im on prazosin for nightmares/night terrors and it works fine for my full sleep cycle (because I take it before bed, probably) but it doesn’t seem to apply to naps.

Napping is the factor in my control.

Sleeping on my back and extreme tiredness used to make it more likely for me to experience sleep paralysis.
But I haven’t experienced those in a long time, even if often sleep on my back.
