Andy Burnham’s government has approved a new data centre near London’s Brick Lane despite widespread local opposition, even as the city suffers its worst drought in decades.
This is nothing news. There are three DCs already in East London that I know of and then there’s the massive one at Greys/Thurrock and a good few in Canary Wharf.
I’m guessing they might be out of room so new shit needs to be built but of course everyone jumps on the ‘oh it must be for AI’ bandwagon.
Well yes obviously it will in part be used for that but not exclusively.
