I’m mostly trying to think of mostly benign or positive fads, even if they might have inspired some folks to do wacky or dangerous things on the extreme edges of the fad. I’m thinking stuff like beanie babies or bedazzling stuff.

I personally want to see some of the fashion fads from the 70’s come back, like bell-bottoms.

I run Linux at home now (Mint).

It takes just as long to boot as my Windows 10 machine at work.

Edited because after a day at work my brain malfunctioned.

I think perhaps we have a difference of experience here.

Way back when, when my 386 machine was the newest, hottest thing, between flicking on the power switch (remember those?) and being able to actually use my computer took less time than it took for me to lift my coffee cup to my mouth and take a sip.

There’s no computer made today, no matter how much you spend on the hardware, or what you run as software, that gives me that speed on startup. My Mint machine here at home allows me time to take several sips before it even makes it to the point where that Mint logo shows up on a black screen. I can get through about half the cup before I finally have the full screen there and can start working.
