    Would you call an old school analog thermostat (that uses melting and congealing wax to open/shut a vent) AI?

        Lots of people think it’s only AI if it’s at least a Machine-Learning enabled Neural Network whose model is at least of 1B+ parameter complexity and runs on a digital computer using NVIDIA hardware.

        It isn’t, or at least wasn’t, unless you use the techbro definition from the past 10 or so years (or the Hollywood definition from before that).

        Bristlebots were some of the most simple proto-AI you could make. They are capable of navigation and object-avoidance in 3D space and even show simple swarm behavior, even without any kind of computing power or “brain”.
