As AI increasingly answers “how,” this book focuses on “why.” Rather than focusing on how to build software, it asks why programming matters.
The author’s name is 屋敷幽霊 (Yashiki Yuurei). That means “mansion ghost.”
The origin of the “屋敷幽霊” can be found in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. I kept the same reading, but chose these kanji: 八式 夕令
Anyone know why codeberg denies access on chromium, where I have no addons to block ads, but not on DDG browser, where it blocks ads and trackers?
Anyway, from what I’ve reviewed thus far, cool book.
Looks interesting, chapter names:
- Shogi Players and Programmers
- Editor Obsession
- From calculator to compute
- Context
- Compress
- Use
- Chaperone
- Children as epistemologists

Oh my what happened to this site. Who tf runs this thing? How can you be so conservative that you block the 2 greatest breakthroughs for computer science in the last 20 years.
Next stop: women and PoC not allowed and required bible references?
For AI: They have limited funds and AI creates a lot of unmanaged Abandoned-on-arrival code. This gives then grounds to remove the abandoned slop code bases.
Really not hard to understand why they would restrict it.
Reading their blog post, it’s a lot more than that. They even go into explaining water and electric waste.
If it was just cost, wouldn’t they want to ban unmanaged and abandoned on arrival code, projects wasting CO/CD with no community, etc, and not blanket ban llm generated content?
It’s clearly an ideology of the site and its users, which is perfectly fine. I just find it laughably conservative.
Who tf runs this thing?
Feel free to use GitHub/Copilot and vibe code crap, we won’t stop you.
the 2 greatest breakthroughs
https://www.web3isgoinggreat.com/ is a breakthrough.
I self host on Gitea. It’s called ownership. It used to be a thing.
And yeah money gets stolen n shit. That happens. Look at the legacy financial system. Money attracts thieves.
Instant trustless transfer in a dark forest of evil. Huge.
Look at the legacy financial system. Money attracts thieves.
Sure but it’s not the Federal Reserve that steals from people. Crypto is like if Charles Ponzi ran the Federal Reserve.
What an odd thing to say. Does this include USDC?
USDC doesn’t really support your “trustless” point. It isn’t trustless; it’s basically traditional financial infrastructure with a blockchain strapped on.
You still have to trust Circle to actually hold the reserves, honor redemptions, and manage them properly. You need audits and regulation to make that credible. In other words, the thing providing stability is precisely the centralized trust crypto was supposed to eliminate. A stablecoin can’t replace fiat while remaining pegged to fiat. And what do we get in return? Mostly a harder-to-tamper-with ledger.
Stablecoins don’t have a spotless record either. The CFTC found Tether made misleading claims about its reserves, and USDC itself briefly fell to about $0.87 when SVB failed because $3.3B of its reserves were stuck there.
It does support trustless from a transactional standpoint. Yes it’s mint has some caveats that anyone transacting would be familiar with.
But if you wanted to accept payment for a car in USDC, the instant I paid you, you can trust that transaction happened and cannot be undone by me. Understanding Circle is backing it.
That tx can be done for a penny or two, instantly, globally. That’s a big deal.
AI slop, I get it
Blockchain: bruh, what’s next? you can’t use posgresql?
It’s not all slop anymore my friend.
No, you can’t use postgresql for a trustless global financial system. If you don’t know why or what a trustless system is, you don’t need blockchain. Good examples of ignorance: “enterprise blockchain”, “private blockchain”.
I am a senior dev (10+yoe) & a PhD, on the side I pushed a new exchanger from dev stage to prod (bitnorm.com), just to say you are assuming too much amigo :)
What do you have a phd in?!
A phd student who doesn’t understand Byzantine general problem and solutions, laughing at blockchain and ai
Sure buddy, whatever makes you feel good.
(you need to work on your reading and comprehension skills, you are still just imagining things)
