Predecessor also works (3rd person moba, free to play).
It uses easy anti chat, but the existing Linux compatibility in that is clearly turned on, which isn’t to common unfortunately.

Around a decade ago, I used a Firtz!box for my internet, like most people. I needed more functionality that it couldn’t provide, but I knew the hardware was capable, and since it’s just a Linux underneath I thought it should be possible. Soon enough I found the “Freetz-ng” project and got my solution, patched my kernel and all was fine. I don’t remember what the exact breaking point was, I might have had to move to a “bigger” (read: newer) Fritz!box to support a faster DSL version. Around that time AVM stopped releasing the kernel sources they used (obviously a GPL violation), so I could no longer patch my kernel and get the functionality I wanted. All mechanisms for me to do this were still there, they just actively refused. I even wrote them mails asking for the sources, and at first I just got a bit of a runaround, and eventually they just ghosted me I think. I certainly never got the sources I needed though.
I don’t know if this GPL situation was ever fixed, or if they got sued, or if they just locked down the devices even harder to prohibit any system level access in the first palce (arguably just as bad, but they’d probably say it’s for “security”, aka the grownup version of “think of the children”). I haven’t looked back and would not consider using any of their devices ever again.
Just if you want “official” confirmation of their illegal (monopolistic) business practices, there’s a fine handed out by the german antitrust authority (Kartellamt) for 16 million € in 2024 for artificial price inflation or price fixing, not sure what the proper english term is (source in german).

Unofrunately that’s kinda hard. The have essentially a monopoly in Germany, or close to it, so I don’t even regularly see alternatives.
Depending on what application you need it for, and what your own skill level is, there is Mikrotik (Latvia). They make all kinds of network gear, including routers (with and without wifi). But if you need the Cable or DSL modem part, I don’t think they have that. In general, they are more aimed at a professional than a home level equipment. They are vastly more powerful in terms of capability/configuration, but also require a deeper knowledge and are just by default more complex.
So there might just not be “good” alternatives, and at least AVM (the company that makes the Fritz-products) is in fact European/German, which is better than nothing…

Sounds good on paper, until you look a bit deeper and find they are actually a horrible company. GPL violations and active opposition to right-to-repair, as well as the notion that you own the hardware you bought from them.

Didn’t pebble release a smart ring? I don’t know the price, but from what I understand their newer stuff (since the relaunch) is either fully or mostly open source.
I don’t know if it includes the sensors you want though.

Visualizing this graph as a stacked graph isn’t helping. It should either be a line graph with 2 lines or bar graph with 2 columns per year. The version shown makes it incredibly hard to tell that the non-functional parts didn’t really increase in the last year’s. I think. As I said it’s pretty hard to tell …

It’s not a rename. Resources if a different app that already exists and will be taking the place of the existing system monitor.

VaultWarden is still fine and unaffiliated. Should they change the official Bit warden client to no longer work with that back end, there will be solutions.

I take don’t understand why people didn’t see this coming from the start. The while ecosystem was engineered for their control. Just a vague promise of “we’ll be good” was apparently convincing enough. Even after last year’s incident, this was at best a little asterisk at the end of a review or something.
I also get that it is only relevant for enthusiasts in practice, but then again who knows where (or if) they will stop? It’s possible you only use bambu filaments soon and prices go 3x. They can just do that any time they want. Will they? No idea. But they can.

Yes, and I don’t know if it could even be classed as a collaboration. They just buy them and resell them with different firmware, basically?
I assume some part of acceptance is required for that in practice, but it isn’t like Fairphone ever advertised them as an official option (as far as I can tell or saw).

To anyone who owns a PS5 and thinks this is cool and wants to use it: turn off updates now, it just disconnect it from the network. This will be patched and blocked, probably very quickly.
Any reason it’s not using zellij but still tmux? I thought this use case was basically what zellij was made for.
To be clear, I’m seriously asking, I don’t really use the terminal to host fully fledged applications/screens
