I read velma’s comment and I don’t see a connection between the results of a specfic scientific study and TERF behavior or bioessentialism. I mean, experiences of any and all kinds have constant effects on all our brains? Just because a pregnant person’s brain changes during pregnancy doesn’t mean that those specific brain changes are somehow necessary to be a mother or to occupy the space of motherhood.
What I mean is, one truth does not invalidate the other, both can comfortably exist with each other. A pregnant person’s brain goes through specific changes; you don’t have to be a cis woman or biologically connected to your child to be a mother, both true. “Mother” is an archetype that goes way beyond notions of gender while pregnancy is a biological process that can be tested and measured. To me, these are clearly different things and in no way conflated by velma in her comment, especially considering she is not the author of the study etc.
Edit: missed a word!
The tag that I added to the above user’s handle gives me a good chuckle every time I see them in the wild. Helps balance the rank odiousnesses of many of their comments lol the irony of a troll like them calling something rage bait only adds to my glee.

Purging and reorganizing my office and craft space, dun dun DUH! That’s right folks, I have to open all the ADHD doom boxes full of forgotten treasures. If I don’t report back by Friday, send a rescue team.

I was joking with my friend the other day that I wanted to resurrect the crinoline lol. I’d love a huge radius of fabric between me and other people. A swishy, pretty force field, so to speak.
As a fellow bisexual in a passing relationship who experiences a ton of erasure, this convo thread is making my heart so happy🥰
Also, so happy to see velma out in the wild, so to speak! Your compliment on my skirt was so supportive and inspired me to make a new one this weekend. Meeting a friend I haven’t seen in a long time at the craft store in a few hours for supply purposes, thanks again for the support!

Washington DC cause I’m feeling particularly petty this morning. It sure would be tough to build a giant fascist arch if there was a constant downpour 🤷♀️ can I adjust the settings so the humidity stays at 99% all the time as well? Let the rot actually rot.
If you could have any talent/skill, what would it be?

Thank you!! I’m trying to be more fully myself at work, it’s challenging at times for a recovering fawner hahaha
I have this fairly crappy selfie I sent to my friend yesterday:

I wore a skirt I made to work for the first time this week! Been sewing for years but finally built up enough confidence to wear my own pieces to the office.
“It’s like my pool’s tearin’ ass around the backyard only it’s standin’ still. Still waters run deep.” Hands down my fave Carl line.

Flock of Dimes! (Jenn Wasner)

I’m in therapy for childhood religious trauma and I have a visceral reaction to people like this. I’m fine with personal beliefs, believe whatever the fuck you want. However, my sense of self worth was systematically destroyed by evangelical Christianity and emotional abuse, so yeah, I still feel pretty triggered around vocal folks. I also live in the South. Send help.

I had my first therapy session to address the trauma surrounding my mom’s death this past week. I’m proud of myself for asking for help on my own this time and for my openness to starting a journey that I know is going to be painful and life altering.

I beg your pardon, but what is, ‘The Weekend’?
Thank you!!
