Naw, patents are great. As an American, I also believe we should allow math and physics to be patented. Why allow the natural world to exist without profiting from it.

Sexism isn’t just a thing, it is “the” thing to be honest. For example, the leader of the KKK commented over a decade ago that he would rather vote for a black man (Obama) than a white woman (Hillary). Let that sink in, one of the most racist people is still more sexist than racist.

You bring up the fact that people in control use sexism to manipulate people. For sure they do just like they use racism. The crazy part is they might not even be racist or sexist themselves but they know it resonates with people so they will use it for their propaganda.

I think you make a great point about a disconnect that those who are against the patriarchy may have with class issues. On the other hand you could also tie the patriarchy to issue like transgender rights through rigid enforcement of gender roles and fueling genocide with hierarchical structures.

I have a strong bias against governments and human rights abuses. I have an extremely negative view of the US and the countless crimes they have committed. When I was much younger I spent a considerable amount of time moving through socialist and communist circles.

As I have grown older I have begun to see through the rhetoric and propaganda of many systems, cultures, and governments I used to a look up to. Believe me when I say there is no government that deserves humanity currently.

I am not interested in your attack the messenger/source approach. This is a common trope of people who try to defend human rights abusing governments. Please don’t confuse my criticism of China with my lack of ability to criticize the US. I have spent most of my life studying human rights abuses by the US.

Pretending billionaires are in check because the one party murders anyone who they disagree with is not what I would call an efficient system. Entire districts built that were empty without people, massive fraud, and waste. What China did do was lift several hundred million people out of poverty. Of course they turned to capitalism to do it and only after their failed policies cost tens of millions of lives. Instead of building on this accomplishment they have chosen to create a new billionaire social class on the backs of 6 days a week 12 hour shift working class.

China is increasingly looking a lot like the US with only one party. They are now the fourth largest producer of arms supplying conflict regions with weapons of death and destruction. They have built their country by working hand in hand with the US. China is great because of the US not despite it.

Ah yes, the mythical small business capitalism we all hear about. I will agree it sounds good on paper and also seems to distribute money in a somewhat efficient manner.

Unfortunately there has never been a government able to regulate and keep capitalism this way. Other people have said it is simply not possible due to the nature of capitalism.

I think there is a worthwhile debate here around systems and culture. Perhaps capitalism could work if people were not inherently so greedy. I tend to believe that culture is the deciding factor which is a little disheartening honestly.

I agree, that is why we should just point out that it kills millions every year. Even without global warming we should have moved to phase out oil and gas wherever possible several decades ago. Now is the next best time I suppose.

For sure, not that I doubt things like global warming. The reality is oil and gas kill many millions every year. So much focus only on global warming is almost a red hearing when it already causes so much death.

It was supposed to be phased out of regular gasoline in 2021. It will still be used in airplane fuel. It will take decades before it isn’t present in large quantities though. That much lead in the environment doesn’t just disappear.

Wow, that sounds so wild to think that exposure to coal related radiation has killed way more people than every man made radiation exposure ever (if your not counting fallout from nuclear arms testing).
