And we are losing.
No, we are not! Don’t let the shitty trends in some places get to you, don’t take the black pill. Even if it may take some time, culture is moving in our favor. You can nowadays just be an out and proud trans person, and live a pretty normal live. That would have been almost unthinkable 20 years ago. Everyone has at least some idea of what trans people are, and you basically cannot be a broadly respected person, especially within educated and urban circles, if you are hateful. Kids nowadays have early access to information of what it means to be trans and role-models.
Yes, there are setbacks, losses, pain, and many lost battles. But there is no way for them to win this war. After all is said and done victory for us may take time but is ultimately inevitable. Don’t loose sight of that and don’t loose hope!

Okay, there is a lot to unpack here, and I kinda wanted to buy groceries now, so I’ll make it quick.
Yes, I was speaking generally about general tendencies in the simple case of binary trans people going through the typical “full” program. There are a lot of nuances, especially among nonbinary people, where this becomes more murky. But it’s worth noting that the same holds for binary cis people, things are far from simple there either: As I wrote, sex is a bimodal distribution and if you assign people to the peak they are closer to, what I wrote will be a reasonable first approximation.
That is a fair approach, I recently understood that I have kinda always rejected the notion of social gender roles on a pretty fundamental level, making it far more about outward biological characteristics more relevant.
So: “Yes, but…”
Yes. you always have a grey zone, but that notably doesn’t invalidate the concept of a fish, it just means that we have to be aware that not everything fits perfectly.
