I dont know what’s worse a parent losing their kid down the automatic mail belt or choosing to send their kid via mail to save a few pennies

3·6 days agoThere is only two choices molest or dont. I’m not out here picking molest as my preferred method. I dont think baby Hitler deserves it but if I knew the outcome and could prevent it I would and I’d probably kill myself after.
Interesting but based on my experience I’m going to have to disagree

I would molest baby Hitler if I knew beforehand that it would stop the holocaust. Its disgusting but to save that many lives its above my personal comfort. its a duty to humanity at that point.

Linux@programming.dev•Fedora AI Desktop Initiative Blocked After Council Vote Reversal
11·7 days agoNo this does not seem related to market capitalism or “shareholder culture”, yes some of the firings excused as AI disruption can be attributed to that but we must understand that every economic system wants to get the most output with minimal input. The disruption from AI isnt something that I think has happened yet. If the tech just affected 1 industry I wouldnt call it labour destroying. This is not just LLMs but vision models and general robotics all at breaking through at once.
Open source is going to need to move slower I think. They won’t be able to take advantage of ai to speed up development because there is a bigger risk for pushing a bad release.
Hes probably sitting there waiting for it to come through
Ive never met a Dutch person or been to the Netherlands nor do I consume any Dutch media. But this seems like something they would do. It seems the Dutch are extremely fair.
Like the Dutch man might be worried that if he doesnt charge his coworker something then his coworker will worry about paying him back in some way. So he gives him an easy out and bills him 50c.
The coworker actually scammed the Dutch guy because he didnt bill him for the car ride and now the Dutch man owes him something.

Firefox security team has gone over verified and patched all these bugs. They used to do 30 a month and then they got access to mythos and found 70 bugs then last month they found 423
I really worry for developers if they are going to get bombarded with hundreds of “P0” incidents that must be fixed immediately. The pressure on developers is bad enough as is.

11·8 days agoYes people invest in developing technology I dont know what rock youve been living under. They dont invest because investment pumps the stock that would be illegal and the market is so big theres very few who could move it. Instead they invest because the technology getting better raises the stock. I dont think anyone would claim AI hasnt gotten a ton better since the early days of chatgpt 2
As for sustainable, Inference is profitable but training costs a lot. Agentic models are driving up inference usage by 10x so its printing money they just need to own enough compute to provide the inference while training their next model. The market is growing like crazy, anthropic 30x their revenue in the last year going from 1b to 30b revenue and they expect to be profitable next year. Their latest model cost 5b to train.
The business model is fine. They’re over the hill and the tech has proven to be useful… unfortunately.

41·8 days agoWhat’s wrong with the investment and business model? For me the big issue is the training data and licencing. As well as the issue that it genuinely destroys the value of labour at a time when living costs are high.
Interesting but i suggest it might be normal matter that had a bad childhood experience and turned evil. We can save it tho
Is there any consensus on this idea or is it just a nice graphic made by a well meaning person?
