Nuclear can’t be used for that either way. Nuclear power plants are notoriously expensive, so they need to run at a constant 100% output to be remotely economically viable. That means you can’t just dial them up to fill a gap in renewables since they already are at max output.

Even if we ignore economic concerns, the old reactors we had weren’t build to operate in load following mode, meaning you couldn’t just ramp their output up/down if you wanted to. New reactors are often build with that capability in mind, but that would’ve required pretty much a full rebuild of the reactor chamber and the control system. With the already required maintenance it would’ve been easier to just build a new reactor at that point.

If the two options are a new nuclear reactor or investment in renewables, than the latter option is faster, more reliable and cheaper. The gaps in renewables could easily be solved with more water reservoirs and battery stations as power storage. The main problem is that germany, like always, introduced so many diplomatic hurdles in the process that no one wants to do it. You can thank our totally not corrupt politicians for that.

Autism and adhd are classified as disorders instead of diseases for a reason. Disorders per definition disrupt normal/expected body functions and don’t necessarily have any underlying cause. Neurological disorders are just a collection of issues that disrupt your ability to take part in society as the majority would expect.

That’s such an american thing to say. School and city buses are the same thing in a lot of the world. Sometimes they are chartered by the school with public funds, sometimes they are just normal bus lines that have additional timeslots before and after school.

And even school uses itself vary a lot by each countrie. The US has these yellow monsters while a lot of Asian countries use small vans as buses.

Ich muss mich an die vorhandenen Gesetze halten, wenn ich friedlich in einem Land leben möchte. Das heist aber noch lange nicht, dass ich den besagten Gesetzen zustimmen muss. Gegen das Deutsche GG fällt mir jetzt auf die schnelle nichts problematisches ein, aber es gibt so einige andere Gesetze mit denen ich eher weniger im Einklang bin.

That’s pretty much just the inflation of both currencies. The average inflation over the last ten years for EUR is ~2.9% and for HUF is ~5.7%. You loose value with both accounts, but the Hungarian one is loosing value faster.

Since the exchange rate also varies a bit its hard to say which account would make you more money in the long run, but the difference is minimal at best.

If said standards are reasonable is a difficult thing to say. A few years ago I would’ve said that a normal person doesn’t need to be concerned that the police tries to break into their phone, but with the current state of things and the increasing rise of fascism, I’m not so certain anymore.

Wenns auf dem Weg zwischen zwei größeren Städten liegt, kann mans einmal die Stunde/ halbe Stunde anfahren, ansonsten reicht auch alle 2-3 Stunden.

Zugstrecken werden schon ewig nicht mehr neu gebaut, sondern maximal erneuert/ausgebaut. Wenns historisch keine relevante Verbindung dahin gab, dann fährt da auch heute nichts.

With how fucked up your electoral college is, there is now option for a third party to slowly grow in support like its possible in most democracies. That means your only options are both far right corporate puppets that have no real interest in fixing the underlying problems of the country, which in turn radicalises even more people.

Sure the Democrats are oders of magnitude better than the current nutjobs, but they historically did only the bare minimum to be seen as “the good guys” and “progressive”. Anywhere else in the world they would still be right wing conservatives. Looking at how Mamdani policies get criticized by members of his own party should be all the proof you need.

Pretty much the only way out of this downward circle would be for 100 Million Americans to simultaneously decide to vote for the same 3rd party.

Ich werd nie verstehen, warum quasi alle Politiker so auf Massenüberwachung abgehen. Bei der AFD ists klar, die bekommt beim bloßen Gedanken an die Stasi nen harten. Die CDU versteht ich auch, die hält sich leider selbst für einen festen Regierungsbestandteil. But the thing I never understood is the need to have people with Degrees in leadership positions. A PHD doesn’t exactly mean you are smart or a good leader, it just means you were privileged enough to study for 7+ years without starving. Especially since the degrees usually barely overlap with their respective areas.

The only thing it brings us is a bunch of rich privileged assholes in charge that all have never worked a job other than “business consultant” in their lives.
