  • Okay, just to be clear here - fuck Candace Owens

But . . . If you read the article she was actually scammed out of a bunch of money too. She even gave the promoter money to cover refunds and they just didn’t refund it. Rocksman (the promoter) is the real villain of the story.

I mean, it’s messed up all around, but I’ll at least give credit to C.Owens for trying to get people their refunds. Also I’m not exactly crying over these folks getting fleeced but holy shit it’s crazy what the promoter did and got away with and what they stole.

  • It’s from Langoliers.

To find that answer I took a screen cap of the pic and used Google image search. Edit: or if you’re on an android (I’m sure iPhone has something similar) mine has an option where I can press and hold the little bar on the bottom then do a circle of my screen and it’ll search that.

  • I fondly remember watching that movie on TV with my grandparents at their place one summer.

I mean, it was terrifying and might have given me some nightmares since I was pretty young but still, fond memories nonetheless. The movie is just very unsettling, like the horror lies in how alien the whole experience is for the protagonists and it does a great job of encapsulating the weirdness they’re going through.

Been many years since I watched it though so it might be actual trash for all I know.

Uh, no I literally don’t give a fuck - I just think it’s funny that you have a problem with a kid saying “oh biscuits”

I’d say a swear is a swear - you know what swear words are, and I didn’t decide anything, society did. Personally I don’t really care and I swear like a sailor but there’s probably been books written about what is and isn’t a swear word, how they came to exist and why they exist for all cultures and societies around the world. Maybe there are some exceptions but every language I’ve learned about has swear words in it.

    Language is silly.

Idk what the hell happened to baby boomers. When I was growing up my parents (boomers) constantly reminded me you can’t believe everything you read online and that the “girl” I was chatting with on AIM could actually be some fat 40 year old pedo.

That wasn’t uncommon, that was the same experience all my buddies had and same thing was drilled into us at school.

Now, I’m seeing these folks treat memes on Facebook like it’s the gospel truth. Or some random mommy blog post with zero references as straight facts. It’s so maddening … What happened to these people?

  • I think part of it is the disillusionment of us Americans with the USA. I grew up being proud to be a citizen of the USA. The more I learned of our true history, the more I grew up, the slipping quality of life - the huge issues we have with healthcare, infrastructure, income inequality and ineffectual government … All of that seems at least less bad in China.

Now, I’m not gonna glaze China - that country has plenty of its own problems. However, they at least seem to be embracing emerging and mature green energy tech, are not on an anti intellectual path and have a functional government (which is not to say I don’t have plenty of problems with China). Also they seem to be less interested in killing people for … Reasons? … Vs the USA who conducts diplomacy by violent means as the normal course.

Anyways yeah I guess China just seems like a better place than the USA right now but you could level plenty of valid complaints at both countries.
