Russia did plan to do just that. Everyone in the West was okay with that. Ukrainians were the only ones that weren’t okay with that.

Tbf they are in the same category, just different size. Ukrainians aren’t the first victims of russian empire, they are the first who fight back with a decent success. Many others are russified already - their history and identity erased, yet they are still second class citizen cause they don’t have “slavic” facial features.

Its a tough one re selling the sulprus. It doesnt happen now. It involves getting permissions from a some commission and the whole process is nigh impossible. Some companies just relocate to Poland / Czech and sell from there, which obviously mean Ukraine don’t see these money.

Ironically, the weakest point of Ukraine is attack on democratic process of it’s allies. US already fell and key EU countries aren’t looking good.

I’ve read somewhere they’ve got about 3-6bn from abnormal prices since America-Iran war. That doesn’t cover the increased military spendings that completely obliterate their budget, but there is nothing good about USA stopping aid to Ukraine and doing stuff that’s directly beneficial to russia. 3bn is a lot of ammo.

Its not foreign though. Anticorruption institutions were heavily pushed by EU, but it’s locals in them. And it’s civil society keeping those alive, let’s be honest.
