I agree. But I don’t see dogs or cats as special. Though arguably cats (which I dislike) are smarter than a cow. Whales and dolphins are also pretty smart. And apes of course. Most of the animals being breed for eating are particularly dumb. It makes them easier to manage. But they are still just animals.

Bonus question. I am using jerboa. Some people it shows where their acount is from, but others it doesn’t. Is that just a jerboa thing, or is that a lemmy feature that you can hide what instance you are from?

What I don’t really get though is that if an instance is well federated, then you aren’t interacting with people who are just on a subset of instances. So how does such an instance have a vibe?

But like how would anyone really know what an instance is like? There are soo many people shitting on every instance, and most of it is probably BS lies. The zip idea makes sense though. But can I transfer a user from one to another? Or do I lose all my subscriptions and such?

Question. Does it matter which you login to all that much? Many of my subs are not world… but my login is. Has been for a long time. I never really think about it.

The number of times I have explained to doctors how their advice is great, but just not practical is astounding. And they just don’t have advice that is practical for people with ADHD. They don’t teach that in medical school.

Hm, the percent of drug dealers and mobsters that don’t have an active combat like role is very very low. But the military has people like doctors and nurses among other very much non combat roles. So it isn’t really a fair comparison. And some people join the military to avoid becoming a drug dealer or mobster. It’s a step up, mostly because it is legal. And for some, they do one tour and then become productive members of society. That happens far less with drug dealers and mobsters. So at least give them the respect for choosing not to become a drug dealer or mobster.

Thats the trick. If a country doesn’t have a military and they have something like resources other countries want. The become puppets of the countries that have militaries. The exceptions are small countries that don’t have enough of anything anyone wants for others to bother taking it. They don’t tend to do so well usually.

It’s a race to the bottom.

I know the nuance will be hard for some. So I will start by saying that I am very against the actions of our government, and have been since a pretty young.

But, the vast majority of our troops are in the military because it was the best or maybe only option to make a living. And that is the way the government design the economy. They make sure people have no or few other choices.

Now compare what the military is doing to distract from the epstien files to what the billionaire class is doing. Then look at who you work for. Odds are your job in some way supports the very people who made epstien possible. So we are all complicit. Yet we all have little choice but to work. So instead of pointing your anger at someone who just like you is complicit. Point it at the people actually responsible.

See that would be great. But it actually causes division between people who agree that the genocidal fucks should be dragged out int the street and … but don’t agree to jumping to conclusions or over generalizations.

I’m not saying it’s divisive to say fuck nazis. But calling someone you know almost nothing about a nazi seems a bit extreme. Mostly because the level of willing misinterpretation on here is stupid high. I could say fuck trump, and somehow there will be people who will call me a trump supporter. It boggles the mind.
