I haven’t read the article but have life experience. Tofu is the stereotypical vegetarian/vegan food in the USA. People with closed minds and a patriarchal view of masculinity tend to be strongly against eating tofu because meat eating is an indicator of masculinity to them. Willingness to consider tofu as an acceptable food then correlates to willingness to not blindly embrace the patriarchal views. (Edit for wording)
