You eat them straight out of the can?
Depends on preparation, like anything else. You could eat an egg raw or burnt to a crisp and it would be a horrible experience, but if you have a recipe where it works well on its own or have experience with seasoning and combining it with other ingredients it works wonderfully as a meal.
Fish is similar, although I agree that some preparations are more appetizing than others to most people. You’ll probably have more people clamoring for sushi or fish 'n chips (deep fried prep) rather than baked in an oven or grilled in a pan.
Also, some fish just are not worth eating, for sure.

Truecrypt had claims but with no substantial evidence, and Veracrypt is a FOSS fork with no secrets about how it achieves its encryption functionality.

Veracrypt stays winning!

You could try running your windows-locked programs via Wine, Proton, or a VM-based solution for the worst offenders on a Linux distro (unless your employer requires you to run windows on bare metal, and I give you my condolences).
Used hardware exists man. Also Motorola is partnering with GrapheneOS for their upcoming hardware releases, so maybe when your device becomes obsolete in the future consider getting something with more customization at a (gasp) lower price and with better repairability/customization.
I understand tribalism isn’t good for anyone, but pointing out that there’s a better way than getting abused by the walled garden shouldn’t be taken as mocking.
I’d argue that it’s important to live in the present for these sorts of things. My phone running GrapheneOS isn’t going to start blasting ads or auto-installing bloatware during its lifespan, and since the monitors I possess have none of the “smart TV issues” I don’t need to worry about those for the lifespan of possessing the device.
Yes, the world will likely try to break GrapheneOS and make monitors just as much of a monetized hell. However, a free and open source operating system cannot be internally enshittified, and used/commodity hardware systems allow you to pick and choose something that doesn’t have ads spewing at your face.
Holy mackerel, GrapheneOS and Ironfox are free, unmonetized software ya know…
Guess I’m not surprised, but you Apple users live like this?
“Deploy the yellow smoke for the waffle-copter supply drop!”
“Man, this deployment in [southeast state] is really testing my grits…”
I recognize that TF2 chat font anywhere.

You can buy counter strike and tf2 defunct trading platform accounts that are decades old for pennies on the dollar.

Thanks to sandboxing in GrapheneOS, I haven’t ran into any of those issues. Things like banking apps that are only available through the play store ecosystem can be installed anonymously via Aurora, and play services can’t usurp the sandbox, so you can limit the permissions of it and all apps (including spoofing permissions that they can’t actually use)

A) You’ll have people selling their place in line, which means that those who can afford to take a large quantity of orders in advance can profit from the difference
B) It’s not exactly good PR to order something and having to wait a variable window of time for it to finally arive at your door (see almost all Bethesda merch incidents post Fallout NV)
C) Valve doesn’t operate like a dropshipper. There is no “white label” steam controller being made in china that they can slap their logo on and sell as soon as people order for it. They have to contract volume in advance, since it’s a bespoke product.
“Y’know, I’m somethin’ of a scientist m’self.”
You can run it through Winboat or via a standard VM, but like Adobe they hate you running it via Wine, and will try to block you from doing so.
So your best bet will be VM+GPU passthrough.

BIG IRON!!!
You could purchase some prepaid debit gift cards at a store with cash and use those, if you want something traditional.
