It’s not that they “cant figure it out”, its that its a reverse auction where everyone gets paid the lowest price that is needed to provide the last bit of capacity. Why should a solar plant get paid 20% of what the gas plant gets paid just because they are more efficient?

That marginally cheap sources like solar or nuclear get paid a large profit for each kwh is a good thing, it encourages more of them to be build and over time push out the expensive marginal cost of gas (and coal where it’s still used).

OTOH Labour have been running Brum for years, it seems right that after getting booted into third place some one else should run it for a while. Given reform have the most seats they should get first try at forming a majority, if not them then the Greens.

Yup, for comparison there were over 2000 new councilors elected at this set of local elections. 5 standing down is a complete non-story.

Data centres not being able to get connections to the grid is making them get gas generators, e.g. this. We need to be taxing that more, not arbitratily limiting electricity usage and forcing businesses into using fossil fuels.

Sure, I have no idea if it actually is a good idea for them to try. Just that it wouldnt be the same as deliberately targeting civilians.

Terror bombing civilians is a losing strategy for sure, but I do think a demonstration that your enemy is less all powerful than they claim by hitting a high profile military parade is different to that.

Most of those conversations seem to be steam asking the vendor to allow them to lower the price it’s being offered on steam to match the lower price it’s being offered elsewhere (or remove the sale from steam). I dont see any threats to kick games off steam (though that could be implied) or demands to remove lower priced sales from elsewhere.

I think theres a chance of a Labour minority needing green/lib dem support to form a government and them making voting reform their price. Labour members are in favour and a good chunk of the MPs are too.

I’ve been thinking this for a few weeks now. It would be incredibly ironic if Trump ended up as one of the primary agents of the the transition away from fosil fuels due to him causing a price spike at a time when there is a viable alternative to oil for a lot of energy uses.
