Animorphs is the book series that taught me what war crimes and PTSD were without using either of those phrases specifically. It’s crazy that I read it as a child, but it honestly helped me understand my dad a bit better.

Crazy to see another Everworld fan. I loved that series, but never got the last book. I should see if I can find it.

I don’t understand this stance at all. The only selling point of AI is that you don’t need technical fluency to use it; it’s all natural language and then it interprets what you actually want. “Prompt engineering” is not a skill, it’s an admission that the technology can’t effectively do the one thing it’s supposed to be good at.

Sure, removing her boobs was bad. But the real crime was putting her in white tube socks with platform sneakers.

Yeah, someone broke into our house when I was a kid. He took off when we walked in. The dispatcher asked if he was still in the house, so my mom said no. The cops didn’t show up until the next morning, said the damage was too small to warrant an insurance claim, and then left without actually doing anything.

We really should have stopped after The Muppet Christmas Carol.

I was sitting in a Walmart parking lot in rural Iowa many years ago waiting for my inlaws to finish shopping. An older couple, probably early 60s, starts unloading their groceries into the station wagon next to me. The woman grabs a bottle of ranch from one of the bags, takes a long swig, screws the lid back on, tosses it into the trunk, and continues unloading the cart.

It was the most American thing I’ve seen outside of a jail cell.

My allowance as a kid/teen was whatever money my mom hadn’t spent of my paycheck by the time I got home from work.
