The purpose of AI is to allow the wealthy to access the benefits of the talented, while preventing the talented from accessing the benefits of wealth.

Memes of Production@quokk.au•guys the conservatives reported us to the scawwy FBI
32·15 days ago“Domestic terrorism activity”, like anti-fascist sentiment? Okay, here goes: the German National Socialist movement of the 1930s and 40s was a genocidal cult led by a charismatic drug-addicted madman with a fragile ego who selected his cabinet based on who was the best bootlicker, denied the most basic facts before him, and threw repeated tantrums when he was denied something he wanted. He twisted and ignored laws to his own benefit, and forced passage of murderous laws through a complicit legislature and upheld by a complicit court system. He was also supported by the leading businessmen of the day because they wanted the power and money that would flow to their businesses, and they thought they were above the law. Him having uncontrolled access to the levers of power was inherently bad for the people of Germany, the surrounding states, and the world in general. He was an immature, drug-addled murderous psychopath with an outsized sense of grievance, no control over his temper, a desire for whatever latest shiny thing caught his attention, and no care for anyone outside his immediate family.

40·18 days agoa revised terms of service published on 6 April 2026. The updated document states explicitly that paying a deposit ‘does not constitute a completed purchase and does not create a binding legal contract.’ The payment is described as ‘a conditional opportunity to buy the device if Trump Mobile eventually chooses to sell it,’ with the company retaining all control over whether a phone is produced at all.
, but what I’d love to see is a copy of the email they’ve been getting.
Would also love to know the doc, lol.

Politics@sh.itjust.works•Trump tariff refunds begin but consumers likely to miss out
16·1 month agoInteresting thing is that when the tariffs were installed and businesses sued for collection to be deferred until after their legality was determined, the government argued that it would be difficult for them to recover monies not paid and trivial for them to automatically issue refunds since they’d have all the data in their systems.
So the tariffs were ruled illegal, and the government immediately pivoted to, “Well, actually, it’s going to be really hard for us to process the data and figure out how much we owe to whom, can’t we just keep it?” When told No, they then said, “Well, we’re not going to figure it out, you have to do it!”
So now all the businesses who got impacted have to go through all their records and figure out which good la were subjected to which tariffs (since not all the tariffs were ruled illegal), how much they paid in tariffs, then submit their data with all the backup documentation for government approval.
The government is tearing the entire thing kind of like manufacturers who offer a rebate: they make it clunky and inefficient and loaded with caveats and terms, and they know they’ll be able to keep a bunch of money because some people won’t bother, or won’t have the papers, or will be too busy and miss a deadline, etc.
But anyway, I thought it was cute how they immediately pivoted from “it’ll be trivial for us to refund” to “ackshually, this is really hard, you do it!”
