Linux@lemmy.ml•Which browser would work with lightning ⚡ speed on a machine having this specifications ??🤔🤔🤔
4·13 days agoSure, a WM will run fine and leaves you with more resources to work with. Your setup will still struggle running a modern browser.

6·13 days agoYeah, none are going to be fast. Browsing is going to be slow no matter what, unless you use something like lynx. The best I can give you is Falkon, but don’t open many tabs.

Linux@lemmy.ml•It seems Linux Mint is dropping GNU coreutils in favor of rust-coreutils following Ubuntu.
2·1 month agoWell, for example, upgrading between releases is done by manually editing
sources.listand some other steps, and there’s no easy tool for that. This is not difficult, exactly, but for people with little experience it’s a bit daunting. Debian in general isn’t the most new user friendly distro, in my experience. Distros like Mint and Ubuntu make the Debian experience slightly easier. Not that Debian is some esoteric system.

19·1 month agoWell, what about just using Debian? It’s a bit hassle, maybe, but if you have prior Linux experience, you’ll be fine.

Linux@programming.dev•Bcachefs creator claims his custom LLM is 'fully conscious'
1·3 months agoOh Kent, no. No Kent, no. Kent.
Perhaps Kent, being such an apparently difficult personality type, is just so lonely he has to think at least his chat bot loves him.
Kent is obviously a talented programmer, but that guy doesn’t seem to be right in the head.
I was actually making a joke about the hydrotherapy he used to treat his condition. It involved getting doused with cold water. I don’t think anyone caught my joke.
He sounds like he needs to take a cold shower.
I’d say it didn’t fail. It was never really a consumer phone. It was an attempt to get hardware in the hands of developers, and it achieved that.
Other posts here discuss why it didn’t receive wider adoption.
I daily drove my PinePhone until I could no longer receive MMS messages, since my service provider has a different APN for the internet and MMS. That, and the modem became more unreliable over time. I like my PinePhone, but an average user would never adopt it as it is.

That is terribly sad. Persepolis is a great comic book and film.
