This issue is at it’s core just that… it really makes no sense to me, why you are downplaying it as unimportant.

I would actually argue the reason for the popularity of rightwing politics is largely an expression of frustration about our institutions staying passive in the face of the upwards concentration of wealth, which is what causes games to be treated as products more than art/entertainment.

They are a big institution with capacity to deal with all those issues at the same time. The solutions are simply too anti-capitalistic for them…
