I download albums (through piracy or not) and add them to my modest mp3 collection the same way I used to buy CDs — once in a while when it seems like a good idea. If there’s an album I don’t think is worth listening to again, I delete it.
I’d appreciate it if everyone could just stop burning fossil fuels, please. Thank you for your cooperation.

Cool! I hadn’t seen that checkbox, it must mean they intend to maintain it at least until it becomes too difficult. Back to slightly less round buttons it is, then.

Don’t expect that to last, such settings are traditionally temporary. Mozilla normally removes them a relatively short time after the big new feature is released and any related bugs have had time to get sorted out.

I’m pretty sure librewolf doesn’t touch stuff like that.
But idk — my setup has so much custom css that the only rounded corners I notice are at the bottom of the urlbar autocomplete dropdown, where they don’t bother me. My tabs are still nice and square and below the url.

So basically they gave a bunch of nonprofits with fewer than 300 employees less than ten weeks notice that their longstanding Microsoft 365 subscriptions would be unexpectedly cancelled by Microsoft. So presumably the first time many of them found out about it would have been when their software suddenly stopped working. By the time they called Microsoft to find out what happened their data was already deleted.
This is what you get for moving everything to the cloud.

I’m willing to give it a try at least once if I get to haggle with the cashierbot over the price of my cheeseburger.

So, are they still trying to go after 4chan? Or is it easier targets that they’re having trouble collecting from?

Can the EU really save Canada from itself? I sure hope somebody can.

In my feed people who post stuff every hour get blocked or unfollowed, unless it’s really good stuff.

For the past ten years I’ve been routinely telling people not to let their TVs have access to any networks because they can not be trusted. This morning I find myself insufficiently optimistic to believe that any great number of them are going to start taking that advice now just because there’s suddenly a boatload of new evidence backing it up.

Major nation-states remain amazingly eager to gear up for World War 3, finds every international arms dealer.

You’d think that “no AI” would be an easy feature to implement, and it’s much in demand. Strange that it seems to be beyond the abilities of so many software developers.

Okay sure, it’s made no difference to Zuckercorp, but it’s unfair to suggest that it’s had no effect at all. It’s made things worse for the rest of us in all kinds of more and less subtle ways.

They decided to take a vote on whether or not to “Ban LLM contributions” where the proposed policy wasn’t all that well thought out, and ended up settling on a subsequent proposal which was even worse, enshrining in official policy the standard that LLM contributions are just fine actually and don’t even need to be disclosed. The governance system, in this case, failed spectacularly. The contributors they will lose as a result of this are in my view likely to be more valuable ones than those they’d have lost had the vote gone the opposite way. It’s substantially worse than having done nothing at all. It does not inspire confidence in the future of Debian, and is enough to have many of us looking around to see what alternatives might exist.

They just recently did something bad.

Damn it I was just asking myself the same question. I don’t expect it to be easy to find one that’s anywhere near as good as Debian but without that one problem. I think a lot of them won’t have any firm policies yet.
I’m not a telescope expert by any means but I do have a little one which I use occasionally. As with any other device that works perfectly well without them, “smart” features involving an app are something I would go well out of my way to avoid.
How can that be anything other than an attempt at misdirection by people who don’t want any real electoral reform?
