Is there any way to intentionally fail this attestation with Graphene over and over again by VPNing into the UK with a Graphene device and letting it ban and report you over and over again until detective Nobbleberry from the BBC is in the US breaking down your door?
It’s like serial numbers, RFID, lora trackers, traditional security cameras, eyewitness testimony, and evidence-based search warrants don’t exist. Instead, they tell us that we have to give up all our rights to find lost dogs and bikes. I’m a cyclist with a few decently nice bikes and I’m not silly enough to think my bikes overrule anyone’s 4th and 5th amendment rights.
In my experience remapping keys is easier on Linux than Windows. I copy and pasted a lot in past roles and unlike my own Linux PC which will allow me to set whatever key combos I like, the Windows comp at work didn’t have any software for this and IT didn’t have anything for me to install. I ended up adding my shortcuts directly to a hardware keyboard with user-modifiable firmware and that made it easier than ever before. Now copy and paste are a single keypress and even some of the weird key combos I could never remember have a simple stand-in. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t discount hardware solutions because it may be the simplest way.
I remember this too. Somehow, despite all the laptops I installed it on I got VERY lucky and only had a couple of WiFi issues, one totally incompatible laptop, and one that would not boot until I got the boot parameters right. I heard plenty stories from other people though. All that said, it’s so much smoother and easier installing Linux nowadays that the Windows install where I worry the whole time that MS is trying to reverse psychology me into agreeing to sell my unborn children into slavery.

Seems poorly thought through. Some chump with Photoshop and a text editor could replicate this but change the QR code to a malware site in minutes.
I’m so against the Colorado bill, but a situation where Microsoft is handcuffed but FOSS isn’t sounds less terrible than the original plan. Of course they’re just pushing the idea to gain ground and when the federal version comes, it’ll apply to everything. Maybe Colorado will become the most Linux-friendly state in the meantime.
I’ve emailed and called my congress people and the cosponsors about the Colorado one. Not sure what to do next.
Ugggghh, I finally got 85% degoogled and the storm clouds in the distance tell me I’m going full Linux on desktops, laptops, tablet, phone, and media boxes in the not so distant future.
That said, fuck Google. If you ask me to leave, I’m leaving.
