it’s the three legged stool and both the two front legs of the stool are behind the little brazier heading the tools. The steam is obscuring the spot where the front right stool leg intersects visually with the brazier rim so it makes it seem like the front right leg is closer to the viewer than it is.
That dogs name is Red XIII. When I was little I didn’t know how roman numerals had X for ten. But I still knew how to read the III, probabaly from the game title itself containing VII.
So for all of my childhood in my household we confidently spoke about that dog out loud as “Red X the Third”

One time I walked into a 24/7 grocery store at night and an employee was at the tail end of an argument with someone who was walking out the door.
The guy walking out the door said something rude like “alright well you can go fuck yourself” and the employee yelled out after him, right as I walked in “Yeah!? well at least I have a HOME!”
I thought to myself that no matter how shitty the homeless guy was being, you should never yell that at anyone because of the chance that a bystander like me will wander into earshot and hear only that one single line and never forget it for the rest of my life.
“There and back again.”
What on earth does this mean?
I don’t know enough about Shinzo Abe to know if death-by-doohickey is the same type of cosmic poetry or if this person is just ranking it high for the other obvious reasons (such as the doohickey).
Yup, if you pay attention to the light and shadows on the chair legs it breaks that illusion.
I do think it’s that smoke that allows us to see the chair legs as going into the brazier, instead of being well behind it.
